'Extraordinary Measures' starring Brendan Fraser, Harrison Ford based on book, true story
The movie Extraordinary Measures is based on a true story told in a book. The title of the book is The Cure: How a Father Raised $100 million and Bucked the Medical Establishment In a Quest to Save His Children. The book is written by Geeta Anand.
The story is about a business-savvy couple who is seemingly on top of the world with a new house and three children. Their lives turn upside down when their two youngest children are diagnosed with Pompe disease, an illness so rare that it has not garnered enough attention to be allocated money for research or treatment. John and Aileen Crowley summon up their business sense and invest their assets in starting up a company that will do just that.
